Commodity Insight Rebate Program
Commodities can account for more than half of the ration, yet they’re often tested less frequently than forages. While historical values and supplier specifications provide a useful starting point, they can't capture the variation that naturally occurs over time, between sources, or from load to load.
The Commodity Insight Rebate Program is designed to help quantify that variability and demonstrate the value of routine commodity testing. By participating, you'll build a clearer picture of the feeds you rely on, gain insight into how your results compare to expected values, and contribute to a broader understanding of commodity variation across the industry.
How the Program Works:
-
Enroll a single commodity for one rebate or enroll multiple commodities and earn multiple rebates when each commodity meets the four-sample requirement.
-
Submit four samples of the same commodity from the same farm or feed mill during the program period.
-
Samples are analyzed using NIR testing and standard reports are shared through participating Rock River Laboratories throughout the US.
-
At the conclusion of the program, you'll receive a report summarizing your results and how they compare with expected values along with broader project findings.
-
Complete the program requirements for each commodity that was enrolled and receive the rebate for each.
Program Details:
Program Period: October 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026
All samples must be received by the laboratory no later than December 31, 2026.
Participation Requirements:
-
Four samples required per commodity enrollment
-
Samples must originate from the same farm or feed mill
-
Commodity feed types only
-
NIR analysis only
-
Available through participating U.S. Rock River Laboratory locations
-
Samples must be submitted through the program portal
-
Each sample requires its own sample number and printed label
-
Multiple commodities may be enrolled, provided each commodity meets all program requirements independently
Rebate Details:
Full Terms and Conditions Apply-
Buy three analyses, get the fourth analysis free
-
Rebate eligibility is determined separately for each commodity enrollment
-
Four qualifying samples of the same commodity are required to earn a rebate
-
Multiple rebates may be earned by completing requirements for multiple commodity enrollments
-
Example: Submit 4 soybean meal samples and receive one rebate. Submit 4 wheat samples and receive an additional rebate.
-
Standard billing applies as results are delivered
-
Rebates will be issued as the program requirements are fulfilled
What You'll Learn
Participants will receive a project summary report that highlights:
-
Variability observed within their enrolled commodity
-
Comparisons to expected nutrient values
-
Comparisons to aggregated project data
-
Insights into how routine testing captures variation over time
Why Commodity Testing Matters
Commodities commonly account for 40% to more than 60% of the ration. Even small changes in nutrient content can have nutritional and economic implications. As highlighted in the latest Data Distillery blog, data from the Rock River Laboratory database continues to show variation in nutrients across common commodities, including corn grain, soybean meal, canola meal, distillers grains, corn gluten feed, and soy hulls.
When decisions are based on averages alone, important differences may go unnoticed. Routine testing provides the data needed to better understand what is actually being delivered and fed.
